SUBJECT: “NO FURNACE . . . NO KIDDING”!

DEAR RICHARD:

I have been building low-energy airtight homes since 1984. In february of 1994, I began using Par/PacTM Cellulose Insulation System for sidewall and cathedral ceiling insulation. I feel the Par/PacTM System contributes greatly to my low-energy system by lowering the heating load of the home in two ways:

(1) It contributes to my airtight system by reducing air infiltration/Exfiltration, and

(2) It raises the R-value of my insulation throughout my entire structure.

my homes typically test with a blower door at .5 to .7 air changes per hour at 50 pascals! Par/PacTM also contributes to my airtight system. It helps my whole
house ventilation system work more efficiently, making my homes more comfortable and healthy.

I don’t know if i can “heat my homes with a candle” but by lowering the heat load in my homes...

I have not installed a furnace in any of my new homes since 1993!

I use the domestic hot water heater as the heat source for all my heating systems. Forced air, baseboards or in-floor radiant. I have completely eliminated the need for a furnace in all my homes in 7800 degree days!

My homes also conform to the E.P.A. energy star program and one of my homes was rated by the “hers” at 93.7 five star plus! THe highest rating home in Wisconsin (and it does not have a furnace)!

I always bid my homes as a conventional home and offer the low-energy system as an option on my proposal. the option for as more durable, safer, healthier, efficient and affordable home is always added to the contract by the buyer. in simple terms, the energy savings for heating and cooling the homes pays for the option in 3-5 years!

Today, my homes are 100% cellulose and the results are astounding. I will continue to market and build my homes with cellulose and the Par/PacTM system because “If it works, don’t fix it”!
